On-Page SEO vs. Off-Page SEO

Both on-page and off-page optimization are necessary and very important in search engine marketing. Generally SEO starts with on-page SEO first. This means checking meta tags, adding content, making sure each page has quality content in reference to the page title. Once the website is completely search engine friendly, then off-page SEO begins. Building quality back links is very critical in a websites rankings. The important part is quality links.

Within the last few years, social networking has become very important in search marketing. The number of people and businesses using Facebook, Twitter,  LinkedIn, etc. has grown extensively.  This means reaching new audiences a lot quicker. Search engine optimization is a combination of many tactics, including both on-page and off-page SEO.

What Constitutes Bad SEO?

When the average business goes in search of an SEO company they really don't know the difference between good and bad SEO techniques. We all know SEO companies are a dime a dozen these days, but what do you look for in a quality search engine marketing specialist? Three things a shady company will do:

1.  Splogging - putting your website all over the Internet on splogs ( spam blogs). They do not provide any value to the client or the reader.
2. Many SEO companies own various content sites that they use to link back to your site. If you decide to cancel their services early, they will remove all of your links. You've then spent a bunch of money for nothing.
3. Spamming for page rank. Make sure your company can show you where you links are coming from. One easy way is to use Google Webmaster tools. This will show you all incoming links to your site.

Search engine optimization can help your company grow immensely or it can ruin you. Be very careful about who you trust to mange your online existence. SEO takes time when done correctly. Get referrals and check recent clients progress or status.

Google's Changes Help Consumers Find Quality Information

We all know most consumers find what they are looking for on the first page of a search. Prior to Google's recent update, critical postings were buried deep in Internet rankings. Now, such information is easier to spot. Certain postings such as scams and negative company information used to be pages deep within a search.  This is important for consumers to know and to realize they may just want to search past the first page to find exactly what they are looking for. This isn't exactly good news for those companies that were counting on the fact that most people rarely even browse past page 1. Search engines are full of great information and it is great to see the quality information being pulled before the junk.

How Has Google Updates Affected SEO?

Recently Google changed their algorithm to help weed out the content farms and spam sites. The majority of quality websites were affected positively, but there are some people are very unhappy about the changes.  The whole idea behind the update was to make sure all searches pull quality sites with relevant material. I think this was a great step in the right direction. The future updates will be geared towards weeding out sites with their target keywords in the domain with less relevant content. All of Googles updates are helping to retrieve quality searches for consumers.

Search engine optimization involves several key items and these changes don't affect what still needs to be done on the average site to improve ranking. Some sites that reached high ranking based on their domain names may soon see a drop in ranking.  These companies may just have to work a little harder on some other tactics. Any good SEO specialist knows search engine marketing is an ever changing field and what works today just may not work tomorrow.

Search engine optimization and marketing has become the dreaded phrase almost all online businesses need but don’t want to face. The only way for a business to increase their online visibility and in turn increase online business is through search engine marketing. Many businesses will start out with PPC (Pay Per Click) ads, but quickly find that the cost involved is extremely high and not a long term solution. This leads businesses to search for an SEO company to help them reach the first page of search engines through search engine optimization.

“I started Madd Web SEO to help small to mid-size businesses with search engine optimization without breaking their marketing budget. I strive to for less clients, lower cost and quicker results.”, states Brooke Klepper, owner. Search engine marketing involves daily tasks, networking and knowledge of programming. Most businesses don’t know how to approach SEO or just don’t have the time it takes to be effective.

Internet businesses are growing daily, which means the competition continues to rise. In order to be a successful online business, being seen on page 1 of the search engines is a must. “I am willing to let each client be as involved as they would like, which gives me ability to offer a range of pricing to fit any businesses marketing budget.”, noted Klepper.

Is Search Engine Marketing Bringing You Down?

We all know the big debate on SEO. Do I need it or don't I? Every successful online business knows they have to be easily found in the search engines. Any new online business almost has to start with PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising, which can cost a fortune. This is a great quick fix to marketing and getting your name on the first page, but is it a long term solution? This all depends on the cost of your ads and if you are willing to pay for them as long as you do business online. The smart long term solution is to gain better online visibility with search engine optimization. Once you've reached page 1, your no longer pay for SEO services or PPC ads. Finding an SEO company to do the job correctly at a low cost is the tricky part, but they are out there. Keep in mind, the less overhead a company has the less they have to charge for their services. Sometimes smaller is better.
